Does Oak firewood produce a lot of heat?

Yes. Because it is so dense, Oak produces a substantial amount of heat. Research shows a full cord of Red Oak can produce 24 million BTUs, making it one of the hottest burning woods available.

Does Oak burn cleanly?

Yes. Oak burns very cleanly with little to no black smoke. Black smoke is caused by incomplete combustion (often due to high sap or moisture). Because Oak has low sap and dries effectively, it burns completely, resulting in high heat and minimal smoke.
